This chapter
seeks out a more elusive side of the Ridge: its spiritual history.
This includes not just religious rituals, but also more “secular”
forms of transcendence: pot-smoking sessions, lovers' trysts, wild
parties and more. Though these are all very modern activities, they
have surprisingly ancient roots in the mythology of the forest. The
chapter ends with a broader reflection of how all the pieces of the
Ridge fit together, and what this means for the future of Delhi.
Below is an outline of the chapter sections, along with the time periods and places covered in this chapter. (N.B. Some shifting and reorganization occurred between the production of this image and the final publication of the book.)
