This illustrated article is a rumination on the fate of single-screen cinema halls in Delhi. With the onslaught of multiplexes, many of the once-thriving single-screen halls are in disrepair, and are often caught up in land disputes. (The above image is actually from Pune, but one gets the picture nonetheless.)  The piece riffs on the idea of the cinema hall sharing the same fate as the so-called "item girl", drawing hordes of attention when young then being callously discarded when deemed past their prime.
